Ex-UH player admits selling pot

Former University of Hawaii basketball player Yves "Tes" Whitlock admitted in state court yesterday to selling marijuana to an undercover police officer.

Whitlock pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree promotion of a detrimental drug. He was facing three counts for allegedly selling a total of eight ounces of marijuana for $3,600 to the same undercover police officer on three occasions in February 2007.

He could get five years in prison when a state judge sentences him in November.

However, because he has no prior convictions, Whitlock can ask the judge for a deferral and the opportunity to remove the charge from his criminal record.

Whitlock was a starting guard on the UH men’s basketball team in 1994 and 1995.
