» Ten graduates of University of Hawaii’s West Oahu campus were recognized with the following awards:

Kische Kumura and Akira LeBlanc won the Outstanding Humanities Student Award; Taryn Okuma, Hawaii Association of Public Accounts Outstanding Senior in Accounting Award; Mano Takara, Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants Outstanding Senior in Accounting Award; Jessie Sacayanan, Outstanding General Business Administration Student Award; Catrina Manabe, Outstanding General Public Administration Student Award; Richard Uiagalelei, Outstanding Justice Administration Student Award; Kristopher Dung, Outstanding Health Care Administration Student Award; Leianne K. Nagum, Outstanding Social Sciences Student Award; and Andrew Archibald, Outstanding Neighbor Island Social Sciences Student Award.

» Wellesley College senior Allison Xie of Pearl City won a Beckman Scholarship, valued at approximately $20,000, that will fund two summers and one academic year of scientific research. Xie is double-majoring in biochemistry and history and serves as vice president of Clio, Wellesley’s history club.

» Brent Kunimoto, president of Diamond Bakery, presented the Samuel M. Kamakau School, a Hawaiian immersion public charter school in Kaneohe, an automated external defibrillator and lessons in how to save a life. He also donated $2,500 to the American Heart Association of Hawaii.
