Motorcyclist killed in Kahala crash
A motorcycle rider died early yesterday morning after he crashed along Waialae Country Club Road near the Kahala Hotel & Resort, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city’s emergency services department.
The crash was reported at 1:10 a.m.
The motorcyclist, described as a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead by paramedics at 1:32 a.m., Cheplic said.
Diver dies despite rescue attempt
A man who was night diving with a group in waters near Mokolii Island at Kualoa Regional Park was pronounced dead by paramedics after he was pulled ashore Saturday night.
The diver, described as in his 40s, went into distress 200 yards from shore at about 9:47 p.m., said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city’s Emergency Services Department.
Other divers brought him to shore and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation beside Kamehameha Highway until paramedics arrived.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 10:47 p.m., Cheplic said.
Man arrested in assault with bottle
An alleged beer-bottle assault Saturday in Waikiki began when a 28-year-old woman left her engine running while visiting family and returned to find a man sitting in her driver’s seat.
The 57-year-old suspect had been drinking beer in his carport when the driver pulled up in front of the carport and left her vehicle running and the doors unlocked, police said.
When the driver saw him, she took the keys and ordered him to leave, police said.
Another woman, 53, tried to intervene, at which point the suspect hit her over the head with a bottle, police said.
The victim was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition following the 11:15 p.m. attack, police said.
The man was arrested on suspicion of assault in the second degree and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle in the second degree.
Woman allegedly slashes roommate
An 18-year-old woman allegedly slashed her 57-year-old Halawa roommate in the face and head during an argument Saturday, police said.
The 57-year-old male roommate suffered "substantial" injuries during the 4:48 p.m. argument, police said, and was treated and released at a nearby hospital.
The 18-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault in the second degree.
Suspect arrested after sex acts in bar
A 27-year-old man was arrested early yesterday morning for investigation of sexual assault in the first degree after a 22-year-old woman told police that he engaged in unwanted sex acts at a Honolulu karaoke bar, police said.
The woman said the acts occurred during a social event at the bar.
The man was arrested at the scene at 5:10 a.m.
Kailua traffic stop reveals ID theft
A patrol officer who stopped a motorcycle rider Saturday in Kailua discovered credit cards and identity allegedly stolen from a vehicle earlier this month, police said.
The 41-year-old female motorcycle rider had been stopped for speeding at about 3:45 p.m., police said. As she looked for identification, the officer saw credit cards and a Hawaii identity card belonging to a 69-year-old woman, police said.
The credit cards and ID were allegedly stolen from a vehicle Sept. 3, police said.
