Suspect sought in kidnapping try

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man suspected in the attempted kidnapping of a Pearl City woman Thursday.

The woman reported that she was at her Palamoi Street home at 12:20 p.m. Thursday when a man appeared, grabbed her and threw her on a bed.

She yelled for her dogs, which may have bitten the suspect, police said.

The suspect is described as in his early 20s, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing between 220 and 240 pounds, with a short haircut, and with either a birthmark or dark patch of skin on the left side of his neck.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *CRIME on a cell phone.

Body could be that of missing person

Police believe the skeletal remains of a man found in Makiki Stream yesterday may be those of a missing person.

"We suspect it’s somebody we’ve been looking for," said Honolulu police Lt. David Kamai.

He said detectives are waiting for the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the body.

Police said two people stumbled upon the body while fishing in the stream off Makiki Heights Road before 5:50 p.m. Thursday.

Taxi driver attacked over fare

Police arrested a 31-year-old Kahala man who allegedly tried to leave a taxicab without paying and then struck the driver Thursday night in Waikiki.

Police said the suspect and the victim, 50, got into an argument over the fare before the suspect attempted to leave without paying at about 10:25 p.m. The taxi driver tried to detain the suspect while calling police, at which point the suspect allegedly struck the driver and then fled.

The suspect was located nearby at Ohua and Kuhio avenues and arrested for alleged second-degree robbery.
