Officials seeking cause of Kailua High brush fire
Fire investigators are still looking into the cause of a brush fire that came within 20 feet of several Kailua High School classroom buildings yesterday.
About 50 acres burned, mostly on the ridge line that separates Enchanted Lake from Kailua town, Honolulu Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.
Flames came to within 20 yards from one home on the Enchanted Lake side, but homes were mostly upwind of the fire, he said.
The fire was extinguished about 6:45 p.m. yesterday but firefighters returned today to put some smoldering hot spots, Seelig said.
