The woman whose body was left at Hawaii Medical Center East on Sunday was identified today by the city Medical Examiner’s Office as Holly Melissa Kruse, 32, of Waianae.

The office was still trying to determine the cause of death.

Police and hospital officials said a man went to the hospital’s emergency room about 10:45 a.m. Sunday and asked for a wheelchair. He returned and told hospital staff that a woman needing help was in the wheelchair at the emergency room entrance.

Emergency room staff tried to resuscitate the woman but determined that she had been dead for a couple of hours, a spokesperson for the hospital said.

The man, meanwhile, disappeared without leaving information about the woman or himself, the hospital said.

Footage taken from the hospital’s video surveillance cameras has been turned over to police.
