Wilson shoots 65, trails by 3
Former Kaneohe resident Dean Wilson opened with a 5-under 65 yesterday and trails by three after the first round of the RBC Canadian Open played in Toronto at the St. George’s Golf and Country Club.
The Castle High graduate is tied for fourth and trails Brent Delahoussaye (62) entering today’s second round of this PGA Tour event. Vance Veazey and Brock Mackenzie are tied for second at 6-under 64. There are nine golfers at 5 under and another 11 at 4 under.
Wilson carded four birdies on the front nine and one on the 18th in his bogey-free round. This is the ninth tournament and the third cut made for Wilson this year. He has earned $65,770 and is 210th on the money list. To regain his tour card, Wilson needs to finish among the top 125 on the money list. Currently, second-year pro Webb Simpson is 125th with $473,507.
Oosthuizen tied for lead
British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen shot a 5-under 67 and was tied with Richard Green and Dustin Johnson after the first round of the Scandinavian Masters yesterday.
