2 charged with pakalolo promotion

Two people were charged with marijuana offenses after police recovered about $20,000 in marijuana and hashish from a Hawaiian Ocean View Estates home in Kau, Big Island police said.

Robin Bartz and Pearl Muraki, both 46, were each charged with two counts of commercial promotion of marijuana, one count of promoting a harmful drug and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $22,000 each.

Armed with a search warrant, vice officers arrived at the Moana Drive home about 10:35 a.m. Monday. Officers recovered 5.9 pounds of dried marijuana, 5.2 grams of hashish and 236 marijuana plants ranging from 3- to 6-feet tall and growing both indoors and outdoors.

Girlfriend arrested in man’s stabbing

Police yesterday arrested a 36-year-old woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend at a Wahiawa homeless encampment.

An anonymous caller reported the stabbing off Kamehameha Highway near the entrance to Wahiawa town about 6:50 p.m., police said. When officers arrived, the woman walked up to an officer and said she had stabbed her boyfriend, police said. The man, who is in his 30s, was being taken to the hospital on the hood of a car, but then he was later transferred to an ambulance and transported to the hospital in stable condition, police said.

Alleged ocean attack leads to arrest

An argument between two surfers in Waikiki led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Palolo woman Monday evening.

Police said the suspect and a 24-year-old woman got into an argument in waters off Waikiki and the older woman held the younger woman’s head underwater and allegedly tried to drown her. The victim was able to get away and notified police, who arrested the suspect near Kapahulu and Kalakaua avenues about 6 p.m. The older woman was released pending investigation.

Kihei man ID’d as crash victim

The Maui County Police Department yesterday identified a man who died in a single-car crash in Kihei on Monday as Terry Eoff, 58, of Kihei.

Eoff was driving a 2006 Suzuki sedan east on Kilohana Drive, police said. About 5:50 p.m., one-tenth of a mile east of Waikai Street, the car veered left. It hit a curb and a utility pole support wire and overturned, police said.

Eoff was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition. He later died. He was the only person in the car. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Police said it is possible Eoff’s death was not caused by injuries suffered in the crash. An autopsy will be performed.
