First-nighters outside Kuhio Theatre awaited last night’s “Hawaii” premiere. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by James A. Michener. Starring Max von Sydow and Julie Andrews, the film opened to mixed reviews from isle residents with some saying it moved too slowly and others saying they liked seeing familiar locations on the big screen.
