    Beyond a reasonable doubt.

    Reasonable man standard.

Historically, the local way, of doing business.

  2. lwandcah says:

At the very least he is guilt of exercising extremely poor judgement. There is an appearance of lackadaisical investigative and prosecutorial efforts from day one.

  3. Allaha says:

He has to pay his lawyers or not ? That would be a huge fine in itself.

  4. 2liveque says:

lawyers with good lawyers made the state’s lawyers look a bit outmatched.

    • cojef says:

Well if you can call the judge a lawyer since he has to be one in being appointed or elected. The judge threw a number of charges that were easy to prove. The fix was in and the union called in their chits?

  5. wiliki says:

At least a slap on the wrist…

  6. Bdpapa says:

Th Prosecutor gave this conviction away by not charging his bike and surfboard.

  7. yobo says:

    The FIX was in.

Prosecutor was out-lawyered and wasn’t careful in selection of jurors.

  8. localguy says:

Unfortunately the Nei has no laws against electing utterly incompetent bureaucrats. Had their been such a law he would now be in prison.

  9. saveparadise says:

The law protects the innocent as well as the guilty. If you can beat your accusers in a court of law you are then declared innocent. We have due processes for good reason. Lynch mobs cannot rule.

  10. SHOPOHOLIC says:

    What about

    D) Expected…businesscas usual for the Nei?

  11. stanislous says:

Well, he was almost convicted… no problem it will probably close enough to impress the Hawaii old boy network and get him a shot at governor. A conviction would have insured a shoe in.

  12. Numilalocal says:

How come politicians and government employees aren’t like the rest of us who gotta wait for reimbursement for expenses on our own personal cards? One thing: how much interest on the balance of the mayor’s P-Card was paid by the tax payers until he reimbursed the county?

  13. Honolulu_Guy says:

As the Mayor, I believe that he has the right to purchase alcohol for entertainment. I don’t believe that is illegal. However, purchasing at a strip club or hostess bar must be against some kind of code of conduct. Not reimbursing the City back within a reasonable time is also not illegal, but again, must be against a code of conduct. Would the City allow any other management employee make purchases at a hostess club? Would the City allow any other employee to not have to reimburse them back for so long? I believe that in both instances, the employee should be fired. Such as the case, Billy should be fired.

Anyone who has a Pcard knows how to use it now.
    Thanks Billy
