UC Riverside holds off Hawaii baseball
Thomas Walker had three hits and scored both UC Riverside runs in a 2-1 victory over Hawaii tonight at Les Murakami Stadium.
Austin Sodders (5-4) struck out eight and allowed one run over six innings to earn the win for the Highlanders (21-25, 8-8 Big West).
Kyle Von Ruden (6-2) allowed two runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings for Hawaii (19-26, 8-11), which dropped to 4-10 in one-run games.
Kekai Rios recorded the fifth three-hit game of his career and Jacob Sheldon-Collins went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored for Hawaii.
UH freshman Ethan Lopez singled in the second inning to extend his hitting streak to 11 games and drove in UH’s only run with a sacrifice fly.
Alex Fagalde earned his second save for UCR.
