Man charged with carjacking, then escape
A 22-year-old man was charged Sunday with a carjacking in the Punchbowl area.
Max Delos Santos, who has no local address, was charged at about 11:45 a.m. with second-degree robbery and second-degree escape. His bail was set at $25,000.
Police said Delos Santos used force to take the victim’s vehicle at about 12:35 a.m. Saturday, and crashed the vehicle nearby within minutes. He was identified and arrested at the scene of the crash near Lusitana Street and Judd Lane.
Later that morning Delos Santos fled from officers as he was being released from a hospital where he had been taken for minor injuries, police said. Officers quickly detained him and added an escape charge.
