A 48-year-old fugitive wanted for a rape charge in Northern California was arrested by a U.S. Marshals task force Thursday in the Walmart parking structure on Keeaumoku Street.
The U.S. Marshals Serv-ice, Honolulu police and FBI agents arrested Timmy Miller of Sacramento, Calif.
The Sacramento Superior and Municipal Court issued a $3 million arrest warrant for Miller on June 9 on charges of rape and use of violence.
But Miller had already fled to Honolulu before the warrant could be issued.
Miller has an extensive criminal history including lewd and lascivious acts with a minor by force, battery, assault with a deadly weapon, strong-arm robbery, resisting law enforcement, assault with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, escape, child cruelty, kidnapping with violence, narcotics possession and extortion.
Miller was found in a vehicle on the first level of the parking structure.
The task force kept Miller under surveillance and moved in when there was the least amount of traffic and pedestrians, a news release from the U.S. Marshals office said. Miller initially resisted, but complied when he saw all the officers. Miller was taken into custody without further incident.
Miller was being held at the cellblock at the main police station pending a court appearance and extradition hearing back to Sacramento.
