Catholic Charities Hawaii has named Terrence “Terry” Walsh its new CEO and president.
Walsh will become head of the organization Nov. 1, replacing CEO Jerry Rauckhorst, who will retire at the end of 2016 after 20 years of service.
Walsh, president and CEO of Catholic Charities West Michigan, earned his bachelor’s degree in behavioral science at Chaminade University and was a teacher for special-needs students at Washington Intermediate School and a counselor for troubled teens at Hale Kipa.
He has more than 20 years’ experience working with nonprofits, refugees and immigrants in Hawaii, Michigan, New Jersey and Africa, and was a consultant to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Walsh is moving back to the islands with his wife, Shari, whom he met while attending Chaminade, and their two children, Malia and Cheyenne.
