Strong quake rumbles off Papua New Guinea; no tsunami threat

A magnitude 6.1 temblor struck 75 miles northeast of Angoram, Papua New Guinea at 9:24 a.m. this morning at a depth of 9.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A strong quake off the coast of Papua New Guinea this morning does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.
