“The unstable atmospheric conditions will likely trigger some heavy showers and thunderstorms later today for Oahu, Maui county and the Big Island,” the National Weather Service said in a forecast discussion. “A few heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms could linger into the evening hours, but most of this activity will end after sunset.”
Oahu, Maui and Hawaii island remain under a flood watch through the afternoon.
Forecasters noted that the ground is saturated from Friday’s rains, which increases the possibility of flash flooding.
The forecast for the state calls for partly sunny skies in the morning to become cloudy and rainy in the afternoon, with a chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Vog will also linger over the islands.
Another weather system is moving towards Hawaii and could bring scattered showers Monday and Tuesday.
The rain is not expected to be as heavy or widespread as Friday.
