Police officer shoots burglary suspect at hotel
A Honolulu police officer shot a 24-year-old man sought in a burglary investigation this afternoon at the Pacific Marina Inn on Waiwai Loop near Honolulu Airport. Emergency Medical Services reported the man was in serious condition.
Police said that shortly after noon today, officers from the Kalihi district located a suspect wanted for burglary and several warrants. Officers saw the suspect armed with a firearm, and one of the officers drew his weapon and fired, striking the suspect, police said.
The suspect was taken to a hospital in serious condition, according to EMS.
A witness, who asked not to be identified, told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that he saw undercover police officers approach a man and woman as they exited the inn. The man, who had a gun, ran toward Keehi Lagoon, turned around after reaching a fence and headed back toward the inn, when an officer shot twice, hitting the man in the stomach, the witness said.
Police confirmed the officer shot twice, hitting the suspect once.
Police said officers recovered the suspect’s firearm, which was reported as stolen.
No other injuries were reported.
The officer who shot the suspect has six years with the department and is assigned to the Kalihi district, police said.
The suspect has 18 prior arrests and was awaiting sentencing in April on several felonies, including sex assault, police said.

Righteous takedown of vermin. Good job, officer. Hope the body cam exonerates any question about it being a “good” shooting or not.
Oh, wait….
Yep. It fell off, and he didn’t know it until afterwards. 🙂
Award the cop . He saved us $$$$ to nurse the creepster in jail.
I meant to say, sorry the creepster is still alive.
The Pacific Marina has been dealing with these types for a long time. When they first opened, it was pretty cozy, then the low likes came in. I too hope the Officer was correct in his procedure and I don’t need any body cam to prove it.
The Pacific Marina has remained a good place to go since Lagoon Chinese Food crossed Lagoon Drive to relocate there a few years back. The Singapore Chow Fun is worth dodging a couple of bullets to get.
Great job HPD. A robber? No loss to the world if he decides to exit.
The police officer needed more firing range practice. Now we have to not only incarcerate the punk but to pay hosipital bills, etc.
6 inches higher.
Or, 6 inches lower.
Or lower.
Homeless looser?
Oh, GREAT INQUISITOR, where did you read he was “Homeless”?
It was a question…not a statement.
“My son is a good boy, he neva do nothing”.
That echoing voice in your head–is YOUR MOMMA. You probably received her “vibes” when she heard the word “Suspect” and thought it was YOU…
Stop being an A hole, have drink and go to sleep!
Seems to be a righteous shoot. The officer did what he had to do.
Too bad Oahu’s cops aim not as good as big islands finest.
LOL! You’re right. Big Island police have had a bit of practice as of late. Good riddance to those two vermin.
Another career criminal that shouldn’t be on the street.
Twenty-four years old and eighteen arrests..? Now we know what happens when they are “released, pending further investigation.”
Sad truth!
Wait for the ACLU vermins come onboard to defend this nut case
