Foster child advocate sentenced to 30 years for sex assault of girls
A Hawaii man who ran an organization that recruited parents for hard-to-adopt foster children was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls in 2011.
Louis Martinez, who opened and ran Heart Gallery Hawaii, a local chapter of a national organization, was sentenced today by Circuit Judge Dean Ochiai, according to a news release from the office of Prosecuting Attorney Keith M. Kaneshiro.
Ochiai sentenced Martinez to 10-year terms for second-degree sexual assault and attempted second-degree sexual assault; five-year terms for two third-degree sexual assaults; and one-year terms for two fourth-degree sexual assaults.
The two ten-year sentences and two five-year sentences will be served consecutively, totaling 30 years. The one-year terms will be served concurrently, or at the same time.
After deliberating for less than three hours, a jury found Martinez guilty in January 2015 of sexually assaulting the girls, who were 11 and 6 years old.
Prosecutors said he assaulted the older girl in her sleep after giving her hard liquor.

Martinez opened Heart Gallery Hawaii in 2005 under the name David Louis. That’s the name he used to author a book about his experiences growing up in foster care.

If he was an elected politician he would have paid a small fine and got re-elected.
…. or if he was a Stanford University swimmer he could have also gotten the slap on the wrist.
Or if he was a billionaire he could be running for president.
….or he was a megarich superstar singer that just BEAT IT.
Yay Judge! Consecutive not Concurrent 🙂
6 years old? Sicko
Finally, a reasonable jail sentence for the crimes committed. All judges should take notes from this case.
Ah ..the predator becomes the prey. Even prisoners don’t like child rapists.
I hope one of them returns the favor.
Then you lead a sick fantasy life and probably belong in there with him.
Seems like an awful lot of jail time. I’ve many more despicable acts that had gotten far less time.
Really? How much is enough for a child rapist? What is more despicable?
The worst kind of scum. I hope he has a nice boyfriend in jail.
His boyfriend won’t be nice.
the angel of light, the CEO and Director of Heart Gallery Hawaii. The devil is cunning and crafty, he/she disguises themselves as the servant of righteousness. Another Angel of light is the Principal at Hawaii school for the deaf and blind, and this includes some of the DOE higher ups. Some of them attend church regularly of their own fatih.
Actually, many church-going individuals are like that. I have a neighbor that goes to church regularly but loves to judge others even going out of her way to label a neighbor she does not like because of his past and speaking unkind things of him. And this man has done nothing to deserved this woman’s scorn. It’s like she goes to church but the parables just go from one ear and out the other. Although this is somewhat out of topic, I just wanted to share this in hopes that this person might read this and realize the hurt she is causing someone who has not done anything to harm her or her family. We have all done something in our past that we are not proud of and we all deserve a second chance.
