Lifeguards pull shark warning signs from Waikiki Beach
City lifeguards have removed shark warning signs at Waikiki Beach near the Kapahulu Groin.
The signs were posted after a 10- to 12-foot shark was seen in the area around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Lifeguards reported no further sighings of sharks following an early patrol of Waikiki this morning.
Bystanders also reported seeing the same shark, following a turtle in the same area, roughly 20 feet from the Waikiki shoreline, an Ocean Safety official said.
Duke’s Oceanfest surfing competition will be held in the same area this morning.

That was a big healthy Tiger. Lots of them cruising around Diamond Head side, but they dont really bother except for the occasional fin scare. Heard an aggressive 6 footer sliced through surfers at Rockpiles 3 weeks ago, chasing fish across the reef. Keep your feet up
Japanese words for shark are SAME, FUKA, and WANIZAME. Use them next time.
Yup, keep your feet. It is there ocean and they belong there. If they weren’t the balance is really messed up. I am more concerned with jellyfish.
Sharks are always around. They only pose a problem when someone “sees” them … then, screaming and panic follows. In my younger days, I would go spear fishing under that reef shelf at San Souci and I would have tigers and leopards swim past me. I kinda panicked when I saw the first one out of the corner of my eye … got use to seeing them later. People swimming and splashing in the water were less than 50 yards away. No problems …
