Honolulu set new record for coolest temperature Tuesday
It may not have felt that way by the end of the day, but when Tuesday began, Honolulu set a record for the coolest temperature for the date.
The low temperature at Honolulu Airport of 69 degrees early Tuesday broke the old low temperature record of 70 degrees set sixty years ago in 1956.
The weather should feel a little cooler today with the return of stronger trade winds of 15 to 25 mph, with 40 mph gusts. But it will still be hot with highs of 87 to 92.
The gusty tradewind weather will continue through Friday.
Remnants of former Hurricane Georgette, now no longer a tropical cyclone, are expected to move north of the islands this weekend and could bring increased showers to Hawaii as rain clouds are blown in with the tradewinds.
The storm also generated a small swell, which should arrive on east shores starting Thursday.
