    Close the trail…..

    • kiragirl says:

That should have been a choice but not listed.

    • Lanaiboy says:

Close the trail? How? By posting guards, by blocking the trail? Face it. You cannot “close” this trail. You can make it illegal to use the trail or build a ten foot fence across the trailhead. People will use the trail period, going over or around fences. It is illegal to use certain fireworks on New Years Eve. Wait, what was that exploding in the sky a couple of nights ago?

    • Allaha says:

Many trails are effectively closed for increasing lack of parking. Weight watchers may be behind it, so more people get obese and pay for weight control.

The Government versus the Real Property Owners, with an even changing variance permit, that permits public abuse, and someone gets stuck paying the bill.

  3. Pocho says:

    NO! Close the trail.

The money train need the presents of potential customers … people. Smart money would figure out how to sell these hikers something.

Maybe Mayor Krookwell can turn the park over to the same people he wants to control Thomas Square and then open a beer garden for him and his contributors…

  5. marcus says:

Sure, change the game on the leasehold owner after they negotiated a lease with the state in good faith. Way to go Gov!

  6. islandsun says:

Nobody likes to make a trail off limits but it really does need some down time and a few enforceable rules. That aina is being trashed.

  7. Wazdat says:

Crazy how the city demands a restroom but this city CAN’T maintain anything. WHAT A JOKE !

Take some Responsibility C&C and have some PRIDE and FIX this city up !

  8. localguy says:

If the Golf Course provides all the items required by the city, GolF Course can charge a fair “Access Fee” to recoup their expenditures. No way should a private company be held hostage by the city’s utter incompetence.

City isn’t happy with letting the Golf Course charge a fair admission price, golf course could just shut down. Now the city has nothing but the usual egg on their face.

Sad to say so many incompetent bureaucrats at the city/state. Dime a baker’s dozen.

  9. Bdpapa says:

Golf course should fund it and City should mismanage it!

Isn’t there an access point to the Maunawili Trail at the hairpin turn coming down Pali Hwy Honolulu – Kailua bound or is the aforementioned access point an official trail head? I know the Pali access more of a challenge but it is a marked trail and I believe maintained by DNLR. Why have City and / or Private enterprise be responsible when there is an existing point of entry? Perhaps someone could clarity.

Close trail and ticket anyone going through neighborhood. Police and DLNR need to enforce the law and help the residents of Maunawili. Tired of eco tourist trampling on trails by over use.

  12. stanislous says:

As I understand it, DLNR doesn’t have enough officers now to enforce the fish and game laws. Something like 2 officers on duty on Oahu at any given time… LOL…
and you want more laws and more enforcement??? LOL. LOL. LOL.
