It is winter, in the mainland. Homeless tourists, will be arriving.
For the local people, the Great Mahele, started the first massive homeless disaster.
Oahu’s current homeless, are moving to the neighbor islands.
Fighting the chronic homeless issue, under the current circumstances, is like taking a bucket of water, out of the ocean, and expecting the ocean level to fall.
My thoughts exactly , like bailing out the Pacific.
One of the best things that the SA does is keeping a spotlight on this problem. It is not something that can be swept under the carpet or a tarp.

I would support a homeless vetting process to see how is a true local here and who just moved here to leech off of taxpayers.
Proven Nei residents would receive priority in every way. Those who just moved here to bleed us dry would be offered a ticket home or the very back of the line.
Fair is fair. Family comes first. Leeches come last if at all.

The more the city/state accommodates, it’s like an open invitation that welcomes more.(4% increase)
No one seems to know what the ‘Root’ problem is. We need critical mass with solutions, not leaders just discussing the problems. Perhaps that’s the issue – need new leadership.
The root problem is crystal clear – blame lays solely with the politicians and over paid civil servants. Thanks to them, Hawaii is only affordable to the rich. Million dollar condos, an excise tax pyramiding scheme, and an unfriendly business environment leads to a high cost of living that those from here find extremely difficult to navigate and survive. They have molded our economy to build a welfare state in order to increase the size and power of the democratic party. We are now witnessing the result of their efforts by those living on the street.
Wonder if there is correlation between increase in homelessness and increase the number of high-rises permits approved? Same with allowing in new affordable housing
