Korean actor Byung-hun Lee, pictured, will co-star in the upcoming Hollywood film “The Magnificent Seven,” directed by Antoine Fuqua. The movie, being released Friday, is Lee’s sixth Hollywood film. It’s refreshing to see an Asian actor in a Hollywood Western performing with some of the industry’s best, including Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke. Lee plays Billy Rocks, a knife-throwing master, among the seven outlaws enlisted to help the residents of a small town.
Lee was in Hawaii in October 2005 for the Hawaii International Film Festival, where his film “A Bittersweet Life” was screened. Lee played a gangster who takes revenge on his boss. He was surprised when, during the screening of the film, the fans clapped when Lee’s character finally killed his mob boss. Then, in 2009, Lee was in his first Hollywood film, “G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra.” He played Storm Shadow.
