Carl Ray, personal makeup artist to first lady Michelle Obama, will be making an appearance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Neiman Marcus for a Kevyn Aucoin “New Year, New You” event.
He will conduct an 11:30 a.m. makeup demonstration featuring Kevyn Aucoin products and be available for consultations the rest of the time.
Ray is a celebrity makeup artist based in Washington, D.C., who has also worked on runway shows for such designers as Dolce & Gabbana, Escada and Carolina Herrera. His work has been featured in publications such as Vogue and Town and Country, and he was named top makeup artist by Washingtonian magazine for 14 consecutive years.
His celebrity clientele includes Natalie Portman, Debra Messing and Katherine Heigl.
Year of the Monkey greetings

‘Lucky bags’ deliver discounts
Ala Moana and Royal Hawaiian centers are offering one last gift for the holiday season: Fukubukuro events on Jan. 1.
This Japanese retail tradition offers shoppers the opportunity to receive discounts on mystery “lucky bags” to suit every taste and budget, sold for half of their retail value.
At Ala Moana Center, stores will begin offering Fukubukuro bags from 9:30 a.m. until they’re gone. Bloomingdale’s will also be hosting a giveaway in its women’s shoe department beginning at the same time.
At Royal Hawaiian Center, 32 stores and restaurants are participating, including Fighting Eel, Forever 21, Jimmy Choo, kate spade new york, LeSportsac, Salvatore Ferragamo, P.F. Chang’s and Wolfgang’s Steakhouse. The stores will begin selling Fukubukuro bags at 10 a.m. Quantities are limited.
