“No public trust” (Star-Advertiser, Nov. 17). This is the most hilarious headline I have seen in this publication.
I am amazed that anyone with grey matter between their ears (especially an executive) could think public trust is even a possibility given the schedule and budgetary debacle the Honolulu rail transit project has become. This was supposed to be a $3.7 billion train, not a $9 billion train.
Imagine remodeling your house, and the contractor says $37,000, but then keeps raising the price. At some point, long before the contractor says $90,000, you will have lost your faith in the contractor to complete the work on time or on budget. This is a rational and human reaction to the progress thus far.
