HPD officer hit with more domestic abuse charges while out on bail
A Honolulu police officer awaiting trial on multiple counts of domestic abuse was back in state court Monday on more charges.
The city prosecutor charged Ryan H. Konishi last week with abuse of a family or household member, terroristic threatening and harassment. The abuse and threatening charges are misdemeanors. The harassment is a petty misdemeanor.
He is accused of committing the crimes Nov. 6, while he was free on $28,000 bail for other abuse and threatening charges involving the same person.
Konishi, 41, turned himself in Nov. 29 and posted an additional $5,000 bail for the new charges. He pleaded not guilty in Honolulu District Court last Thursday.
On Monday, State Circuit Judge Rowena Somerville scheduled Konishi to stand trial on the new charges in February. He is scheduled to stand trial on 14 other abuse and two threatening charges next month.
