Work furlough inmate reported missing from YWCA Fernhurst

HAWAII POLICE DEPARTMENT

Kiana Kaauwai, an extended furlough inmate, is missing from the Women’s Community Correctional Center (WCCC).

A 30-year-old inmate was reported missing from the YWCA Fernhurst work furlough home where she lives today, the Department of Public Safety said in a news release.

The YWCA staff reported Kiana Kaauwai missing just before 1 p.m. She was not authorized to leave the home.

Kaauwai is a Women’s Community Correctional Center extended furlough.

Inmates in the extended furlough program live and work outside the prison.

Kaauwai, who is serving time for first-degree burglary, is classified as community custody, the lowest custody level.

She is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Kaauwai’s next parole hearing is scheduled for later in December.

She faces an additional escape charge.

Anyone who sees her, is asked to call 911 or Sheriff Dispatch at 586-1352.
