Guns N’ Roses perform in Sweden in 2017. On Saturday, the Aloha Stadium gates for the Guns N Roses concert open at 4:30 p.m., and the show starts at 6 p.m. for the Not in This Lifetime Tour.

Aloha Stadium on Friday will feature a concert by the Eagles, with special guest Jack Johnson, followed by Guns N’ Roses, first-timers to the islands, on Saturday.

With more than 39,000 fans expected to attend the concerts over the weekend, however, the Aloha Stadium advises concertgoers to arrive early and prepare for traffic, limited parking and long lines, and to know in advance what items are restricted from the venue.

The Honolulu Police Department will be assisting with traffic flow on surface streets around the stadium on both days. Police may conduct intermittent exit closures at the Aiea cut-off and the Halawa/Stadium exits on H-1 freeway eastbound if it begins to back up.

Parking opens at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and costs $16 for cars and $31 for buses and limos. Payment is by cash only. Tailgating is not allowed for concert events. Ride-hailing companies can drop off and pick passengers up at the main Salt Lake Boulevard gate.

Johnson, a proponent of sustainability, and his tour crew are collaborating with Plastic Free Hawaii, a program of his non-profit Kokua Hawaii Foundation, and events promoter Live Nation to roll out the r.Cup, a rentable, reusable cup program, at the stadium to reduce single-use plastic waste.

Usually, the reusable and recyclable, plastic cups are rented out for a small deposit, but all concertgoers will receive a free one with alcohol purchases, which they may take home or choose to return for reuse at future events.

Free, water refill stations will also be available throughout the venue, along with additional recycling bins.
