Hawaii Bowl lands title sponsor after 4-year vacancy
The Hawaii Bowl ended a four-year absence without a title sponsor for its postseason college football game by becoming the SoFi Hawaii Bowl today.
“SoFi” is a registered trademark of Social Finance, Inc., which is listed as a seven-year-old online personal finance company headquartered in San Francisco, Calif.
The title sponsorship agreement is for two years, the bowl’s executive director, Daryl Garvin, said. He declined to say how much the sponsorship was worth.
It is the third title sponsorship in the bowl’s 17-years of operation. ConAgra Foods was the original title sponsor in 2002 and was replaced by Sheraton Hotels from 2003-2013.
This year’s game will be played Dec. 22 at Aloha Stadium, matching Hawaii (8-5) and Louisiana Tech (7-5) of Conference USA.
