Hawaii U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who represents rural Oahu and the neighbor islands, voted for U.S. Rep Nancy Pelosi during Wednesday’s closed-door caucus as Pelosi attempted to again take charge of the Democrats as speaker of the House. Pelosi easily won the nomination but faces another vote in January.
Ed Case, who will be officially sworn into office in January as the new U.S. House member representing urban Honolulu, did not respond to inquiries Wednesday about whether he attended the caucus or supported Pelosi.
