Kauai utility restores power after islandwide outage

All Kauai power customers were restored by 1:36 p.m., the company said.
1:20 p.m.
Kauaʿi Island Utility Cooperative said that as of 1 p.m. service had been restored to about half its utility members.
“We are restoring more members as we bring additional generating units on-line at Port Allen,” the cooperative said in a news release.

There is an islandwide power outage on Kauai due to a technical problem at the island’s utility cooperative.
“KIUC is experiencing an island wide power outage due to a trip at our Kapaia Power Station,” a Kauaʿi Island Utility Cooperative spokeswoman said in a news release before 12:30 p.m. “We anticipate it could be two hours before all members are restored.”
