CBS orders full season of ‘Magnum P.I.’
The newly rebooted “Magnum P.I.” — filmed in Hawaii — will have a full season to prove its worth to CBS.
The network has ordered a full-season pick-up of the series, according to the show’s official Twitter account and multiple entertainment media reports. A full season is typically 22 episodes, which would mean an additional nine episodes of “Magnum P.I.” beyond its initial run.
CBS also extended the first seasons of “The Neighborhood” and “God Friended Me.”
The extension of “Magnum, P.I.,” which stars Jay Hernandez and airs Monday nights, is a vote of confidence for a series that entered the season with high expectation but has so far produced modest returns.
The season premiere on Sept. 24 pulled in a respectable 8.12 million viewers. However, viewership has fallen in each successive week. Only 5.48 million viewers tuned in for the Oct. 15 episode.
Peter Lenkov is executive producer of both “Magnum P.I.” and the “Hawaii Five-0” reboot, now enjoying its ninth season on CBS.
