Improving the economy isn’t just about deregulation and tax cuts. It’s also about reducing transactional friction and costs through better ethics and the sharing of basic knowledge about our system.
It’s about avoiding overreach by the government and other institutions so that people can believe in them. It’s about avoiding cartels at home and abroad. It’s about education and innovation. And it’s about heeding the warning of President Dwight D. Eisenhower: “A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.”
Top down and bottom up. Both.
