It amazes me that at a time when public trust in government has been stated by respectable sources to be at an all-time low, with voter turnout also low, our unions and other civic-minded groups are against exercising a provision within our state Constitution to address mechanisms that could correct these ills.
Democracy is messy. It is an experiment. Are these organizations afraid to lose their influence and power over us?
I hope the voters see through this attempt at maintaining the status quo and vote yes for a constitutional convention. If it’s all about cost, how much is your freedom worth?
