A female visitor is in critical condition after being rescued Sunday at Hanauma Bay.

Lifeguards spotted a snorkeler in distress around 12:30 p.m. and brought her to shore to begin CPR until Emergency Medical Services arrived. The snorkeler, in her late 20s to mid 30s, was transported to an area hospital.

Driver injured after crashing into tree

Speed and drugs appear to be factors in a Mapunapuna crash that left a 46-year-old Kailua man in critical condition Saturday, Honolulu police said.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition around 5:10 p.m. Saturday after crashing a box truck into a tree on a grassy median near North King and Paa streets.
