An excellent column by Lee Cataluna (“If you don’t buy water you don’t need to return it,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 5).
In urgent situations, the general public seems to overlook filling up empty containers from around the house with water. Besides wasting money, purchasing bottled water also contributes to pollution. Plastic bottles are usually used once and then thrown away.
Consider the environmental impact of making a plastic bottle, putting water in it and then transporting the bottle to a store. Compare that to turning on your sink faucet and filling a container with water.
