Windward Community College has launched its search for a new chancellor, seeking candidates locally and nationally.
Douglas Dykstra, who has served as chancellor of the Kaneohe campus since 2009, will retire in December and University of Hawaii officials said they hope to have
his successor in place by January.
The job opening was
announced Friday. The 18-member Chancellor Search Advisory Committee plans to begin screening applicants and nominees next month, according to a news release. The panel hopes to conduct in-person interviews with the finalists by November. On-campus visits by the finalists and “open
forums” with students,
faculty, staff and other stakeholders will be part of the process, the release said.
UH Vice President for Community Colleges John Morton said he wants to submit his recommended candidate to UH President David Lassner in November.
The search committee
includes faculty, students, Ke Kumu Pali Native Hawaiian Council, civil service
and administrative professional and technical staff, administrative and community leaders.
