Shark signs to remain posted at Pokai Bay

Shark warning signs will remain up for the rest of the day today at Pokai Bay Beach Park in Waianae, where the signs were first posted on Monday after two sharks were spotted offshore, according to Honolulu Ocean Safety officials.

Two large sharks, both over 13 feet long, were seen about 100 yards offshore today, said Honolulu Emergency Services Department spokeswoman Shayne Enright. They appeared to be the same sharks that were spotted about 50 yards outside of the breakwater on Monday.

In Nanakuli, lifeguards posted warning signs Tuesday after an 11-foot shark was seen at Electric Beach. Lifeguards have not seen any sharks in the area today, and the signs for Electric Beach have since been removed.
