The University of Hawaii Hilo softball team is ranked eighth in the West Region in the first NCAA Division II regional rankings released Wednesday.
The top eight teams in each region qualify for the NCAA tournament, which begins May 10. The Vulcans (25-13, 13-7 PacWest) are one of four teams from the PacWest in the top eight, joined by No. 2 Concordia, No. 3 California Baptist and No. 4 Dixie State.
HPU women’s tennis tops West Region
The HPU women’s tennis team came in atop the NCAA Division II West Region rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA D-II Women’s Tennis Committee.
The Sharks jumped the previous top-ranked team, conference rival Azusa Pacific, which lost last week to Point Loma. Azusa Pacific’s loss also allows HPU to snag the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the PacWest tournament, which begins today.
