The number of single- family homes sold in Maui County spiked 50.8 percent to 95 in February from 63 in the same month last year, according to Realtors Association of Maui data.
Last month’s surge was the result of the year-ago drop, and represented a trend-bucking activity from buyers this year. There were 87 sales in January and 90 sales in December. February’s count included two sales on Molokai and one on Lanai compared with none on those islands a year earlier.
The median price for the home sales last month was $685,000. That was up 1.8 percent from $672,575 a year earlier.
In Maui’s condominium market, the number of sales was up 8.9 percent to 122 last month from 112 a year earlier. The condo median price edged up 1.6 percent to $472,500 from $465,000.
