Firefighters extinguish carport blaze in Aiea

Firefighters quickly extinguished a carport fire at an Aiea Kai Place home this afternoon.

Honolulu firefighters doused a fire in the carport of a single-family home in Aiea this afternoon.

Nine units responded to the blaze at Aiea Kai Place off of Kamehameha Highway at about 1:40 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found the detached garage fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was extinguished at around 2:30 p.m. Damage was reported to be confined to the garage area, a fire official said in an email.

It was reported that no one was home at the time of the fire.

The cause and damage estimates of the fire have not yet been determined. The fire is under investigation.
