Visitor dies of apparent drowning at Kaimana Beach

A 27-year-old visitor drowned Tuesday night in waters off of Kaimana Beach in Waikiki.

Positive identification is pending.

At about 6:40 p.m., Emergency Medical Services and the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a report of an unresponsive snorkeler floating in the water at Kaimana Beach, also known as Sans Souci Beach.

Paramedics and fire rescue administered advance life-saving measures. He was transported in critical condition to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
