Seattle blanks Wahine in soccer

The Hawaii soccer team got blanked for the second straight game in a 2-0 loss to Seattle University tonight at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

The Redhawks (2-2) of the WAC claimed the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic title by also defeating Pacific 3-0 on Saturday. UH dropped to 2-2 after its first 2-0 start since 2007.

Following a scoreless first half, Seattle got on the board in the 57th minute when Natasha Howe picked up a loose ball in the box — placed there on a Redhawks free kick — and fired it in from 10 yards.

Jessie Ray headed in a pass from Stephanie Spiekerman in the 78th minute to ice it.

UH next embarks on a three-game road trip starting Friday at Idaho.
