OCCC escapee returned to custody

OCCC work furlough inmate Martin Williams was arrested after he was reported missing from the Laumaka Work Furlough Center.

Police arrested a 36-year-old man Friday who had been reported as an escapee from Laumaka Work Furlough Center, which is operated by the Oahu Community Correctional Center.

The Laumaka facility reported Martin Williams as an escapee on July 9 at 4:30 p.m. when he failed to return from work furlough.

The Honolulu Police Department said that he was taken into custody without incident at 11:21 p.m. on Friday at 1104 Palama Street. Police said charges are pending for this latest incident.

According to a news release from the Hawaii Department of Public Safety, Williams was serving time for Promoting a Dangerous Drug 2. He now faces an additional escape charge,the release said.

The Hawaii Department of Public Safety release said Williams was a community custody inmate, the lowest classification status, in the work furlough program with pass privileges.
