The Navy's newest Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, the USS John Finn was commissioned at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam's Pier Kilo 10. It was Named after Dec. 7th Medal of Honor recipient. His son, Joe Finn joined Adm. Harry Harris, Jr., commander of U.S. Pacific Command, on stage. Admiral Harris delivered the principal address. L aura Stavridis, the wife of retired Adm. James Stavridis, the former Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, served as sponsor of the ship. The ceremony was highlighted by a time-honored Navy tradition when Mrs. Stavridis gave the first order to "man our ship and bring her to life!" All the ship’s personnel than ran onto the ship (as shown in this picture).
