A man and a woman were pronounced dead after being found separately in the water at Hanauma Bay late Wednesday afternoon.
Both were in their 20s, according to city Emergency Medical Services.
Ocean Safety found a male snorkeler about 200 yards from shore at about 5:22 p.m., according to EMS.
Lifeguards brought the man to shore, and he was pronounced dead after efforts to revive him.
Shortly thereafter, fire officials were preparing to search for another person when lifeguards found a woman about 50 yards from shore.
The woman was brought ashore and pronounced dead after efforts to revive her.
Honolulu Emergency Services said Wednesday night that the incidents were under investigation.
