Kona brush fire burns 10 acres
Hawaii County firefighters contained a brush fire that burned about 10 acres in Kona this afternoon.
About 20 firefighters were dispatched at 12:38 p.m. to a fire behind Lanihau Shopping Center.
A bulldozer was used to cut a firebreak around the perimeter and it was contained by 3 p.m.
No structures were threatened, a fire official said.
Police closed Henry Street between Queen Kaahumanu and Kuakini highways and other area roads due to the brush fire. The roadways were reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
