What an affront to Hawaii’s image as the “Aloha State”!
One of several end-of-year analyses posted by WalletHub, the personal finance website, seems to indicate Hawaii residents keep their personal finances to themselves. The state ranked 46th among the states on a scale measuring volunteerism as well as charitable giving.
The ranking was particularly underwhelming (48th) in Hawaii residents’ volunteer contributions of time and effort. Perhaps the need for many to work multiple jobs could be a reason — WalletHub doesn’t say. In dollars-and-cents, we ranked better (37th) — but yes, time is money.
