As moving day approaches for President Barack Obama, there are admirers who want to make sure he’s not forgotten. One approach: a petition drive to rename Honolulu International Airport after him (808ne.ws/2g561sM). Of course, it’s debatable whether Obama would relish seeing his name on a facility that’s been derided for its poor condition. On the other hand, perhaps this could speed repairs.
Ironically, Obama restored the original native Denali to Mount McKinley, so named after a predecessor in the White House. So such honors don’t last forever, not even for presidents.

As fans will learn when Mars appears on “60 Minutes” Sunday, a divorce that ended his family’s Waikiki act left the performer on the brink of homelessness.
It’s rare to bounce back from such depths to hit Mars’ heights — Super Bowl halftime, “Saturday Night Live,” to name two highlights. Still: Life’s full of tragedy, but there also can be magic.
