Mark Glick, administrator for the Hawaii State Energy Office, said Monday he is leaving his position to join the University of Hawaii’s renewable-energy research laboratory.
Glick, 58, said he will step down from his position at the Hawaii State Energy Office — an agency within the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism — on Dec. 15 after accepting a tenure track faculty position at UH’s Hawaii Natural Energy Institute.
Glick said he will continue working with DBEDT’s director and deputy director until his replacement is found.
“I will continue to support the transition and the interim energy administrator while searching for a permanent replacement,” he said. “I am looking forward to working with the staff at HNEI and leveraging the considerable resources at their disposal to continue the progress being made toward fulfilling Hawaii’s ambitious clean energy goals.”
Glick said he will be responsible at HNEI for creating and managing a program that will help combine technical, economic research and policy to support Hawaii’s clean-energy goals at the UH system.
